is this a sensible power flush quote?

yeah , thats excactly what we do. well the ones that quote properly... otherwise the flushing eng gets a little ****ed with one days credit for 2 days work

the bad press is mostly because good news is no news... noone writes to watchdog when i do extras for free and sort out porper dodgy crap left by private guys, but watch out if i cut someone off for an old boiler ive been telling em to change for years.

plus were are a much better headline for the press when **** happens too. problem is we're traceable and the cowboys aint. went to a worcester not working a couple years. back. 24cdi flued into a chimney  . then as the guy said there were smells in teh bathroom i popped a bomb in the boiler and it poured out of the soil stack cavity. i cut the guy off and asked for his installers details but he couldnt/wouldt give me any. so he nearly dies and the fitter gets away  .

its doesnt help on my area where weve got pretty low experience rates. going by pay number order im 10 or 11 in terms of service and ive on ly got the 10 years experience

i dont really want to do this as you seem like a decent and helpful enough chap but.......

no, bad press is in the main generated because someone somewhere has had a bad experience. don't try to cover up BG's failings with fleet streets ones. we all do freebies, but if we are honest its usually easier just to do them and forget about it. what other contractors do is none of your concern, its about time customers realised that BG dont mop up bad jobs for free. chopping a trouble boiler that has had plenty of warning gets little sympathy from me.

plus were are a much better headline for the press when s**t happens too. problem is we're traceable and the cowboys aint

no we are just more memorable.

so he nearly dies and the fitter gets away .

customers problem, move on.

experience rates dont really have alot to do with quoting incorrectly for 10 years IMO. pay numbers dont always relate to your service time. not many guys make it to 10 years, well done.

points all taken fairly. i get really hacked off though with my colleagues who seem to wanna get in and out quick sharp. i don't see the point. take some pride in your work ffs :x . i have a high cost per job but also good perf figure. i actually like to leave boilers workin for more than 21 days. plenty of customers asking for me as a regular eng.

anyways. nuff off the threadjack. take it easy and yeah. be the best you can.

Powerflushing is ineffective on microbore. Most Powerflush machine manufacturers give disclaimers on ubore because of the flow restriction.

And a powerflush is all about flow and pressure. No flow = no pressure = Dirty rads = Waste of time.

Thats often true but there is no alternative to power flushing.

On a 10 mm system with rad valves at opposite ends, power flushing is usually pretty well OK.

Its the 8 mm systems with single end valves which are almost impossible to deal with using any technique apart from a heavy citric acid treatment. But thats usually very risky as the rads are well corroded which is why power flushing is needed in the first place.

so how do you clean the inside of pipework? and all the gunk bonded to the inside of the rads?

Gavinda . Can you just clear something up for me . you clear out manifolds on microbore but how do you powerflush a twin entry system. And have you ever done it.

How can any company sell a powerflush with every new system or change over without a water test.

Softus for once we Agree , one of the biggest cons out there.

Agile are you Italian as you keep on changing opinion(sides) on the benefits of power flushing

And could someone please tell me what the POWER is in the name

Worst one i saw was pensioner charged around 700 for powerflush on a one pipe system and funny enough it didnt work then quoted £2200 to repipe it twin pipe.
With an ops manager and 5 field managers saying we wish there was more like him on the patches. T#####s
And that was about 8 year ago

different times. we always discourage a powerflush on onepipe and will never gauruntee one pipe. and weve finally sorted the install powerflush. its only done for 2 hours and is now powercleanse  . i dont agree with that either tbh. feel a right plumb going in after install and quoting for a full flush when customer sees they had a 'power' job done allready.

and nope for twin entry... never flushed it. personally i quote to repipe to twin entrywith a flush. spose that wrong too.

the uh power is probly summat to do witht the wacking great reversible pump on the camco machine. plus its a brand name anyways. just a name.
