1) Potterton Suprima 40/ gas
2) Cold radiators. When you turn the heating on the boiler goes on normally for a minute and then the indicator flashes green or green and amber. The system then turns itself off (it's not the thermostat. That's working normally - clicking at the right time etc.)
We had a motorised valve replaced today (and a section of pipe). The plumber definitely drained the system and then bled the radiators after he'd finished replacing the valve. We think that something hasn't been turned on or the pump needs bled (maybe? it's a Bosch Grudfos pump but can't for the life of me figure out how to). Went up to the attic and investigated the system (it's an open system I think - two tanks). To the best of our knowedge all the stopcocks are open. When we press down on the ballcock the little tank filled up. Not really too sure what else to do.
Every radiator is cold so I don't think our most immediate problem is that the radiators need bled - although I'm fully expecting to have to do this tomorrow.
The problem with the system started two days ago - the motorised valve had given up the ghost so we weren't getting heating, only hot water. We've got scalding hot water now, but no heating (which seems a bit odd becaus we haven't asked for hot water...)
Ack, so confused! We are going to call the company tomorrow but I'm a bit suspicious they won't be open on a Saturday so I'd really appreciate any advice.
Thanks
