Potterton Netaheat Profile not starting

Hello.

I have a Potterton Netaheat Profile which wont start and there isn't a pilot light showing. I don't have the manual so don't know what model number it is. Can anybody tell me how I get the cover off it for starters?

stop. it may not have a perm pilot.... fid out what the boiler is and what it entails before you start making costly mistakes

Get a corgi out to look at it ,if it is the pilot, the engineer will sort it for you if something else, he will diagnose and repair if you agree,

dont mess with or open the boiler up for the sake of some (hopefully small amount of) money , it might work out too costly in more ways than you think.

Might be needing reset. Not sure about this model but some of these have a reset button under the boiler cover beneath the boiler . Inside a small door that swings down you will find a red button try pushing it gently if there is one and if it clicks you have reset it, if it just flops about the boiler hasn't tripped.

Button loooks like the head of a phillips screwdriver and is usually red.

Have the boiler controls and external controls set to on before you try the button and if it does reset your boiler should fire straight away.

Thanks. It's a 40e. I have looked at the instructions but it doesn't say much. The reset button underneath doesn't click, there is no resistence. Should there be a pilot light showing in the window all the time as there isn't one at the moment?

If it's an e model it won't have a pilot so could be anything from the fan to the pcb to the gas valve.

You need to check the fan is getting 240 V first. You might be better off getting in BG on a FP repair.

Multimeter or test lamps on the fan terminals with the boiler turned on.

Do you know how I can get the front cover off?

Yes ,four screws top and bottom but you should really call in a RGI.

Agreed, get an rgi - your boiler is potentially more dangerous than most. Don't open it up.

Yeah I have in actual fact and fitted a couple (not the 'Netaheat' ones the 'Potterton' ones-MK2 I presume) but the old memory is going now

I think he's wanting to avoid a law suit for advising people to open up their gas boilers which you know is illegal if they are not competent.
