Have been asked to fix (or replace) a shower and need a little advice if anybody can help...
Says Supajet (or Supaset?) on it.
This 15-20 year old electric shower is on a wall with a cylinder directly behind and is fed by a 15mm hot and 15mm cold. Electricity comes via a transformer (black box on floor) which is plugged into a regular socket. All rather Heath Robinson me thinks.
Problem is that integral pump has stopped working. I also noticed water dripping from bottom of unit so not a good sign.
I suggested best to go for a new shower - Q1: am I correct in suggesting this?
Q2: I presume transformers are no longer used? Am I correct?
I suggested if it is to be fixed then really an electrician needs to take a look...
If new shower is to be fitted then I believe that a new electric shower with integral pump is one option. For this electricity must be fed directly from the consumer box. As can be seen from pics below there is already an assortment of electrics in the airing cupboard - Q3: can an electrician tap into this or would he run a new cable?
Q4: Electric showers being fed by hot and cold? Is this common?
Q6: Single feed electric showers - are they usually cold mains fed?
Any thoughts welcomed
