Personally I have no time for either but my wif believes the child is ready for one of these contraptions.

Sadly I will need to connect it to the main TV.

However I have studiously avoided both as I think they are complete Shiite (and watching the Rednapps at play seems sufficient proof of that) BTW did anyone notice how short Louise's little legs are ?

Anyway back on topic which is 'best' and why etc?

Cheers

Richard

Depends upon the age of the child?

If under 10 I'd go for a Wii.

They are excellent fun, fun graphics & superb fun game play.
Poor graphics quality though.

You can get the balance board for the Wii, where the child will lose access to it as the Mrs will want it a an exercise tool :D

If the child is older & likes to chat to mates etc, then an Xbox when connected to the internet is excellent in that it allows more social gaming.
The graphics quality is way way better esp if you have a Hi Def TV.

The gameplay is not as active as the wii, but the amount of games etc is way better. Also, the mrs may get interested in some of the games (Like Zuma etc) that are included.

To play live against other real people on the Xbox does require an annual subscription, but between £28-£40 a year it is still extremely cheap.

Either way, games cost approx £39 each, so gamecost is not really an issue.

My Grandkids prefer Wii, they are 4 and 7yrs and they keep walkining into one another and getting clobbered with the num choc or what ever its called, and I used to use it to ski!

many thanks thus far.

For confirmation we have a SD 42" plasma (Panasonic) and a 7 1/2 year old girl (and I know which one I prefer!)

Cheers

then go for the Wii... much more fun, and healthier too since you don't just sit there...

I hate the term "social gaming"... it's not social at all.. you sat alone playing against someone else thousands of miles away..

"social gaming" was the old days when you went down the arcade with your mates and played streetfighter or double dragon until your fingers bled...

I'll have you know that I have my laptop on the handlebars of my excersise bike and charge it by cycling...
