letting the water out, I'm bleeding the system (draining the whole thing) I've done this quite a few times in the past and these are usually the very first to drain. All Rads are empty except for those.

What do I do? Both upstairs & downstairs effected. I think these maybe my problem with the heating & water not working.

Make sure the rads are turned on at the trv or manual valve, and the motorised valve is set to manual.
While you are draining, double check the f&e tank empties.

Just one thing when refilling the system. And the rads are full of water. Do I turn on both water & heating? I need to get this right.

Do you mean while it's filling (electrics to system off, motorised valve in manual, rad valve turned on, bleed valves shut), when water stops running into f&e tank start bleeding the rads, one at a time, from the lowest rad(s) first, and finish with the highest. or when it's full (reset all controls, then turn HW on at prog and allow to heat up, only when your HW circuit is definately working, turn on the CH......good luck.

Thanks very much sounds like a good plan. Will put it in to action as soon as I get the some other stuff out the way.

My f&e tank has a tap connected to it at the bottom. When I turn that on the rads fill up super quick. If I leave the small tank to its own filling up it'll take forever. So i'll do this also.
