Each language version has a different product number, e.g English is CMT927A1049, Spanish is CMT927A1031. This suggest that the language settings are fixed. However the installation instructions do say: On the initial power up the available user interface languages will be displayed (only on certain models). This only applies to the Czech/Slovak/Polish version and to the German/Hungarian/Portugese version.

So you are stuck with the language you have, unless you fork out for the correct language version. You can buy just the control unit; see http://europe.hbc.honeywell.com/products/ecatdata/pg_cm920.html

Hi, Thanks for replying..................the unit has the code CMS927B1049 on the back, which according to the Honeywell website is the English Language version.

Although bought privately it was sealed at point of purchase and user and installation manuals are in english.

I have also had a response from Honeywell who advise that there is no language selection menu on these.

Anyone else shed any light on this or am I off to Italian school?

Cheers

sorry couldny resist

take it back to point of purchase, any hassle just pop the batterys in and let the counter monkey see the parliamo italiano

replaced there and then i would have thought

ps the code you posted above is for a "spare" programmer ie thats not the one that comes in a box with a receiver and batterys, wallplate and stand

was it ebay?

Was it in the original Honeywell box?
Did you buy the complete package, i.e control unit and relay?

I would get on to Honeywell again and say that you have a unit marked CMS927B1049, i.e the English version, but the display is in Italian. There has obviously been a mix up when the device was labelled at the factory and you want them to provide you with a replacement free of charge.

I did buy this as a complete package in the original honeywell (unopened) box. Although I also appreciate Glasgow gas's point that the code does relate to a spare unit.............I suppose you can speculate till the cows come home how it ended up in a package box.............human error??

I also got in touch with Honeywell who refuse to get involved because I didn't buy it from an 'authorised' outlet. I bought it as surplus to
requirement from a non retail source when it came as the unwanted part of a package deal with a boiler.

The language, whilst it would have been nice to rectify, isn't as big an issue as Honeywells customer service approach. Regardless of place of purchase surely I am still an end user to one of their products. I would have considered it in their best interest to maintain technical support and excellent customer service.

All in all I'm not complaining, the unit works great, I've learned how to; fit a wireless programmable stat, speak a little Italian other than 'due birre per favore' and gained insight into the customer service approach of Honeywell.

Thanks again for your help folks.

Cheers

G Gas's point is actually irrelevant. I have just looked at the back of my controller and that is labelled CMS927B1049. It was also part of a complete set which came in a sealed Honeywell box. The important bit is the 1049, which signifies English. The complete package is CMT927A1049 and the relay is R6660D1041. The Italian versions are: CMS927B1056, CMT927A1056 and R6660D1058.

Did the package deal include a Biasi or Ferroli boiler?

Have you thought of getting in touch with the seller and seeing if he could help - he would have a better chance as it came with the package deal which he bought, presumably from a retailer. From his point of view it does not comply with the Sale of Goods Act as it is not fit for purpose.
