My heating system gave up and only had hot water side working. When the heating called nothing happened. I was advised probably the 3 way valve. Looked at it a V4073A so off I went and got one. Except the new one has 5 wires the old one has 6 which I understand feeds a relay on the side.
The instructions say contact Honeywell have tried but they are on holiday.
So do I fit the new one and ignore the 6th wire a brown or what?

My recollection is that the instruction leaflet tells you what to do?

Could try their website support pages?

some older valves used relays and had 6 wires - your old one could have been one of these.

To wire up the newer 5 wire type, you might be better speaking to Honeywell for advice, as depending how your system is wired you might have to run a hw off wire from the programmer and swap some wires over on the cylinder stat.

regards.

Thanks lets hope they are back to work tomorrow

Hi, just remembered my heating controls textbook!

It says "If replacing with 5-wire disregard the brown wire and change over the wires on the cylinder thermostat common and demand."

Hope that helps.
