Replacing a condensing boiler for a Worcester Bosch 24ri - NOT a combi. Have had few quotes but only one has said we have to upgrade the pipes from 15mm to 22mm by law. Can someone please advise me if this is the case? Why didn't anyone else tell me this?? Do I presume that the boiler will work more efficiently with wider pipes? thank you for your time.

your registered gas installer will work out length of pipe plus fittings and fit the correct size pipe

probably will be 22mm

could also be 28mm depending on run and bends

Not 'by law' but maybe be required by gas regulations after calculating the whole house gas requirement or as stipulated by manufacturers instruction which in some cases superceed gas regs.

Most modern boilers will require a 22mm supply as a minimum (not connection size to boiler but so the boiler is suppied with the right volume of gas)

Onlt the rgi's who have seen the job can guide you

ohh

in which case you might very well need a bigger one

oooo err missus

if anybody quoting for the job aint told you that then i wouldnt bother reading the rest

and make sure the system is cleaned PROPERLY before you fit the new boiler

WB require 22mm gas pipe minimum to all of their boilers apart from 12ri or they invalidate the warranty.
