MIRA ZEST Shower will not turn off! Please help I hate baths

Hi,

My shower works fine in the sense that it produces hot/cold water with no problems, pressure has always been pretty good.

However after having using it I turned the dial to "Stop" as normal to turn the shower off, but it kept going!!

I left it to run for several hours to see if it would eventually stop, but no such luck. it has been like this for several weeks now.

Now the only way I can turn off my shower is to swith off the water to it in the loft!

Any help given would be greatly received!

Is this a power shower?

If so, I may have an idea:

My parents had a power shower installed in their last run of refurbishments. As the builder was a modest chap and not confident in his electrical abilities the wiring was done by a spark and no shower commissioning took place. When the shower was switched on it acted the same as you describe. I traced the problem to the fact that the connector for the dial had not been connected to the PCB.

This may not be the same as yours, there is usually a "commissioning jumper" that connects two pins together on the PCB and is removed before using the shower for the first time. But if there is a malfunction in the dial this may produce a similar response.

Unfortunately it's an electric shower.

I know this was years back - but did you manage to fix your shower? Mine is doing exactly the same thing, it runs for up to an hour after I turn it off...

People have suggested it may be faulty thermostat or something? Any advice you have would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

mira zest don't have a thermostat.
if it runs up to an hour whats it do after that ?
is it the early or late model ?
if it keeps running is the water run hot or only cold ?

if it just running cold your have a faulty flow regulator.

I'm a bit clueless sorry! It seems quite new.

It runs cold, then just stops. Sometimes it runs for 20 mins, sometimes up to an hour.

check the switching assembly first make sure all three micro switches release.

useally the flow switch is the fault but you say yours does shut off after a time.
next time it happens isolate the pullcord if it shuts off straight away then its points to a lazy m/switch.

Just tried it - Pulled the main switch and it made no difference! Flow regulator then?
