dont really do domestic work

ive been asked to move a cooker skt that is above the cooker 500m +

they dont want any chasing out so could i put a cooker outlet as a connetion joint in place of the existing cooker skt then trunk across from that to a cooker socket so that its above the work top instead of the cooker

i know its not my way of doing things but the people who want me to do it are in there 90,s and dont want any mess

so would that be safe because of heat conditions ect :D

You could do the joint with 30/60 amp connector blocks or crimps, and cover with a blanking plate.

OR
You could trace where the cable comes from and try to re-route it.
If it comes from below you may be able to pull it back, then re-route it so it runs in the void behind a unit, then use trunking from the worktop to the bottom of the new cooker switch.

You may be able to join the cable from above, so a new piece runs directly up the wall from the new switch position. Again, IF there is a wall cupboard it will probably will have a void in the back.

With domestic work, neatness is quite important.

I would think enclosed in trunking at 500mm above the cooker it might be alright (maybe not during a chip pan fire!). Not ideal though. You don't want steam entering the cooker connection point either.

Why are they so against using a blanking plate where the existing CCU is and burying the new cable? Although does this open up the issue of RCD protection for that very short buried extension to the circuit?
