Locating FCUs in cupboards

There is no need to provide individual isolators, Just provide isolators for the whole circuit/circuits.

Hopefully people already have one of these whole circuit isolators in their consumer unit.

Same for an electrical shower!

I know you're a bit slow and like riding on bas's shoulders.

But, all equipment requires local isolation but that does not necessarily mean individual isolation.

I don't feel that warranted an insult but there we are, it's about time you quote an incorrect regulation, popping your fingers in your ears and screaming out "blah" repetitivly, infact if I rode around on your shoulders perhaps it could leave your hands free to scratch your head and rear end.

I have'nt quoted any regulation, and your literacy ability is about the same level as your reading ability. How could you possibly understand any of the regs?

Irony?! I didn't say you had quoted a reg, I said "it's about time you quote an incorrect regulation". Perhaps I am not the only oe with reading issues. As for understanding regulations, you trip up all over the place with your own interpretations of them.

Yup, irony.

B*gg*r, although Holmslaw had already pointed out my litteracy (sp :P ) ability as sub standard.

Spada,

As others have said, its permissable to install FCUs in cupboards. Just the same way as installing socket outlets is OK.

One thing though, if you have the socket outlet for the appliance tucked behind the appliance, this makes future inspection and testing more time consuming and/or awkward. The appliance will still have its own fuse in the plug. So if a fuse blows, it could still mean that you have to remove the appliance to get at it. IF you have integrated appliances, this could be a big PITA (thinks:- removing plinths, door fronts, hinges etc...)

Why don't you consider doing away with all those un-necessary FCUs and simply mount socket outlets in their place and plug the appliances directly into them? Make holes through the gable sides of the base units large enough to pass a plug through, simple.

Far easier and still compliant with the regs.
