Hi everyone, Long time lurker 1st time posting ! :D

I have removed the suspensed wooden floor from half my garage to show the concrete as I plan to put a heavy weights section there.

The concrete space I have is about 7ft6 x 7ft6.

As it slopes down to the garage door (which i am boarding over) I need to level this for the weights. It needs to be raised by about 3-4 inches at the door side.

Whats the best option? Screed ?( Have no knowledge of this) or something like Wickes Depp base levelling compund HERE( cant work out how many bags that would take)

I also plan on putting the 2 large wooden boards back down and rubber mat on top of this.

Any ideas people ?

thanks in advance

As you will be covering this section with wood etc, a rough but level surface is acceptable.

I would key up the existing concrete. If some of your infill would be very shallow, then perhaps smash out the old concrete a little in the shallow areas to allow a decent thickness of new, then lay new concrete to level the floor (4:1 mix)

What volume of infill are you talking about here?

Thanks for your reply mate ! Thats what I was thinking, it does not need to be a perfect finish as I am putting wood and rubber stall mats on top.

As the whole area I am doing slopes am I right in thinking you would advise smashing up some of the concrete at the highest point to give the conrete a deeper layer all over ie not feathering out ?

Also for concrete mix would the following do me ok :
Blue circle cement - http://www.wickes.co.uk/blue-circle-cement/invt/224661/
to 4 parts of : Sharp sand - http://www.wickes.co.uk/sharp-sand/invt/220112/

As the sharp sand does 0.3m2 per bag @ 5cm and I have 2.3x2.2= 5 metres to fill going from 6cm to 1cm over the 2 metre length I would need about 12 bags ? and 3 bags of cement ? And sorry to sound really stupid but how much water mixture would there be or is your raitio of 1 the cement already made up with water?

Sorry to be a newbie !

Yes knock a bit out so it does not feather to nothing.

Stop looking at Wickes for your info, concrete is made from stones, sharp sand and cement, not sand and cement.

It is up to you to read up on how to mix concrete either from a book or via the net.

Much appreciated mate ! I will get reading !
