Hi every one,
I have bought a new house recently - Alpha CB24X boiler fixed in the house. Heating is ok. Hot water problem on/off started 1 week ago. Now gradually hot water stoped completely.

I invited 2 enginers. 1st engineer charged me £65 for service/cleaning & disappeared. 2nd looked at the boiler without opening the box and suggested to change a part (diverter etc. & said it could cost upto £250) + labour. I assume that it is his guess work as he did not diagnose the problem.

I have seen few suggestions on this site regarding for hot water problem. I have no technical knowledge. Can any one suggest if it is worth giving £250 + labour OR is there any other suggestion which i can do by myself to save myself paying huge amoung for repair.

I would appreciate any useful information/suggestions etc. :(

The HW micro switch are problematic on these boiler as is the diaphragm in the diverter valve. If you are not confident in repairing these parts then call in a repair specialist and DO NOT part with any money until it is proved that the fault has been repaired. These boilers are not difficult, but I'm afraid you have been ripped off by the 1st guy and the second bloke is a parts changer.
