Changing shower makes.....

Hi,

I would like to change from an Aqualisa aqua stream thermostatic shower to a Mira event xs, the pipe work all looks the same -Is this possible and if so does anyone know of any problems that may arise? Thanks alot.

Depends where your pipe entries are now. ie rear, top ect.
New cable from fcu will have to be fitted.

why not buy a direct replacement,ie same for same.
save you at least a nice pair of shoes.

then you better check cause the only time it willbe straightforeward is if the pipes enter from the top.

first the pipe centres are different.
the mira is 28mm
the aqualisa is 65mm

second if they are rear entry
the aqualisa has horizontal connections
the mira has vertical connections so you will need 2 elbows fitted to the horizontal pipes out of the wall.

as for the fused connection unit on the aqualisa it supplies a transformer then the lead from the transformer go's to the shower.
on the mira the cable go's straight from the fcu to the shower
so needs to be changed.

Hmmmmmm ok thank-you for all that info. I held the Mira shower up to pipes (they come down vertically from the loft) and seemed like they would slot in nicely. As for the transformer where would one find that? And how easy/hard is it to take it out of the equation? Many thanks

The shower should have a white cable to it.
is it running down the wall to the shower or in the wall ?
poss it's in the loft, airing cupboard.
it won't be a problem to run a new cable from the fcu.

Have you a pic of your shower ?

Ok, I didnt see a white cable anywhere - It isn't electric by the way- im guessing you realise that?

You may think plumbers are stupid but i can assure you the electric motor etc don't run on magic dust.
So i guess you check before trying to tell me my job.

How do you think it works without an elecy supply ?

Then don't try to question my knowledge.
If your not sure what your doing then your better getting someone that does cause elecy/water don't mix well.

I most certainly was NOT doing that! You interpreted it completely the wrong way!

Either look for the mains isolation switch for the shower or remove the
shower cover and see where the cable go's then you'll find the transformer.
