I’ve just had a PIR done by a NICEIC electrician, prior to having a new CU fitted, he has stated that the installation was satisfactory and has recommended a few improvements, I’m curious as to what some of the test results mean, as I was not at home when the report was done. Are these results Good, Average or just about okay? Sorry It’s a long winded post I just want to satisfy my curiosity
Continuity.(R1=R2). Insulation Resistance.Live/Live. Live/Earth. Earth Loop Impedance Z’s.

Shower 0.3 7200 7200 0.27
Cooker 0.24 7200 7200 0.31
Sockets 0.36 7200 7200 0.20
Lighting 0.6 7200 7200 0.98

Looks fine to me.

One query though
In each of the examples, the R1+R2 figure is higher than the Zs figure.
Generally speaking I would expect the Zs figure to be the higher of the two as the Zs figure can be calculated by adding R1 + R2 to the earthing impedance at the source.

You might like to ask him about that.

That 7200 figure. Are you sure that it isn't >200???
