Hi Guys,

New to the site as I hear someone may be able to shed some light on a few questions i have burning!

I am about to undertake fitting a new kitchen and thought I'd save a couple of thousand pounds doing it myself. Fairly competent at most things and if I get a good explanation, its normally enough to get me through.

The oven going in is a Samsung BQ1ST077.
Spec is:
Input Voltage / Frequency 230V ~ 50Hz
Output Rating max.3650W
Cable to be 1.5~2.5 mm2

I understand it needs to be hard wired in to the mains supply using a 'Multi Pole Isolator Switch', but heres the thing...

I have a spare RCD in my fuse box thats always off. (it was an old shaver point when I took down the bathroom wall. I made safe the cable with the view of maybe needing it in the future.

Is this going to be ok to use for the oven? Its a thick cable but unsure what is measured? it has a 15mm outer but the actual cores are 5mm eachh with a single earth.

If I can use this for the oven, I believe I then need to go in to a 'fused spur'? Is this what is also know as a multi pole isolator?

Looking at these today in B&Q and realised I have no Idea what AMP I need? Where could I find this?

Thanks in advance for your time...

Phil

Please employ an electrician who is willing to supervise you doing the 'donkey work'.

This will save you two or three hundred pounds Local Authority fees, assuming you are wanting to stay within the law.

It is more involved than you think and your above mistakes show you are not sufficiently knowledgeable about the work.

Better safe than sorry.

What condition is it in, does it have continuity, what are the IR values?

not in this case

A little mathematics

3650/230=?
Which means

Read the MI that come with the appliance, what does it state?
