Not sure where to put each wire on the new switch. My hunch is to rotate the new switch 90 degrees to the right and just copy the wiring but I am no electrician.

As per your picture.

The two reds at the top with the link between need to go into the com's of your new switch. One in each. The link should connect both together.

The black(with red tape) and red at the bottom of one side need to go into L1 and L2(one in each)

The remaining red on the other side needs to connect to the other empty L1.

One switch is 2way probably for the landing light. Is the other for the downstairs light?

Seems a strange set up. What's the bets there's are borrowed neutral close by?

Yes, it controls the hall and landing light. Upstairs is just a 1 gang switch that controls the landing light only.
did you mean I should run an extra wire connecting the 2 coms?

Thanks for the advice :).

Extra to what?

Either connect it up as RMS said, with the COMs linked, or as it is now with the COM on the LH switch (viewed from the rear) connected to the L1 or L2 on the RH switch.

If you do a hybrid of what you have now and what RMS said then it won't work properly.

It might be a good idea for you to read at least the 1st 3 articles here: http://www.diynot.com/wiki/electrics:lighting.
