Blocking and Ventilating a disused chimney

Hi There

We are having to remove this fireplace and hearth.

I would like to have my TV mounted on this wall with the Sky Box and Blu-Ray player sat below the TV but mounted within the wall so that the front is flush with the wall.

On disconnecting the gas fire I'll need to block up the chimney to prevent dirt falls from the birds perched on top. What would I need to block up the chimney? Would I need to leave any air vents possibly in either side to maintain the airflow to prevent damp?

I haven't done anything like this before and wondering if anyone has any tips?

Yes, I think you'd need to provide an air vent, to prevent condensation. Not sure of the best way to block the chimney as I've not done this.

Be a bit less impatient and perhaps someone else will reply.
