Hotpoint WD440 ser WD440G 7061901440 - not drying

Daughter's Washer dryer seems to work fine and no fault lights show but it is not drying clothes.

The element gets hot (didn't check the internet until I got back from looking at it so have not checked resistance) and the fan is rotating. A duster put in the washer dryer gets warm after a couple of minutes but if she puts a wet sheet in after an hour it is still wet.

Any ideas on what I need to look at?

Make sure it's on high heat and clear the fluff filter out from the heater box.

Where do I find the fluff filter - do I need to dismantle the metal heater/fan box?

Yes have you got a grey pipe going to the back of the heater box.

A small grey one that comes from the hot water pipe (that is connected to the cold supply)

I presume this is the water feed for the condenser?

Have taken the top of the heater boxand cleaned out the fluff - not much of it. In the process I think I broke one of the wires off the thermocouple?? that sits on top of the heater box butas the heater was hot yesterday don't think either of these was the fault

As everything seemed to ork but the drier yesterday could it be the solenoid on the water feed for the condenser ?

Is there any way of testing it?

But did you clean the gauze filter at the end of the grey pipe. The valve would open at various points of the drying to spray water on the back of the drum and filter to clean fluff off but not a good job.

So this is in the end of the small (10mm dia) grey pipe that runs from the solenoid valve to the drum - looks like that is the next job.

At least I am finding my way around the machine - shame there was no money in the bottom filter.

Found the filter and cleaned it Sunday, machine appears to be working fine now.

Where I went wrong initially was to try to save time I split the heater box rather than taking it off as I didn't have a cable tie with me to refit it.

To find the filter you have to take the heater box off, don't need to take the cable tie off, there is enough play in the connection to move the heater box so you can get the filter to clean it.
