Frankie Boyle is suing the Daily Mirror because they called him a racist, can you say racist things and not be a racist?he says it's part of his act to annoy people by saying rude things
, so what is the defination of a racist then?do you actually have to believe the things you are saying to be racist, if you say things just to get a reaction without actually believing what you are saying is that ok then?

Dunno really. Frankie Boyle is a comedian, and comedy , as we know, knows no bounds.
Q If ITV decided to do a re-run of Love Thy Neighbour, or the BBC did a re-run of Till Death Us Do Part, would these companies be deemed racist? ;) ;)

The trouble is that sometimes humour relies on the intelligence of the audience to understand which layer is being made fun of. So using the word n**ger is always likely to attract a complaints from those who, ironically, the comedian is concurring a view with.

Here's another question:

John Terry was on trial for calling someone a black ********
Not because he called him a ******* but because he called him black.

The other day I saw a poster advertising'Famous black athletes'. So are they famous as athletes or for being black. Why didn't the poster just say 'famous athletes'?

So the daily mail, which sells papers by being offensive, is being sued by someone who makes his living being offensive.

I had the misfortune to see Frankie Boyle live a few weeks ago. He is my sons favorite comedian. The warm up comedian (a canadian whose name I forget) was head and shoulders above Frankie Boyle in terms of wit/humour and charisma.

I have no issue with near to the knuckle joke and Jimmy Carr is one of my favourites, and do feel that humour (comedy) is subjective and as a genre has no bounds.

Boyle faded rapidly after about 20 minutes of offensive material and my son felt the same.

Is he racist - surely not just for calling someone black?
Is he a comedian - barely
He is IMHO - someone who deliberatley causes offense for his own self promotion.

What about the likes of Sacha Baron Cohen and his stuff, he's Jewish but he wrote a song called "throw the Jew down the Well"it was full of anti semitic cliches like the jews are running the world and stealing everyones money.
If you watch him on Youtube he sings the song to an audience of American rednecks, they are a bit bemused at first but then some of them start in join in singing the song.
it is clear that Cohen is actually taking the p out of the Rednecks and not Jews, by getting them to sing his silly song he is trying to show them up as basically anti semitic racists.
He does the same thing with his character the dictator a standard anti Arab stereotype.

Bernard Manning too was decidedly racist in his joke telling, but in real life, his nightclub in Manchester was like the league of nations. He welcomed all people to his club, and was great friends with many Asians who frequented his club. In his own words, "I tell jokes. You never take a joke seriously."
;) ;)
