Please help,
The hot tap in our bath has started acting up. It flows fine for about 5-10seconds, spurts and splutters a bit, then eventually nothing comes out. However, if I open the hot or cold tap in the bathroom sink, the water starts to flow out of the hot tap in the bath! The cold taps are not a problem, good pressure from both taps, the hot water is heated by a combi boiler recently fitted, the pressure on the display of the boiler shows no problem with pressure. Could it be the actual tap itself? If anyone can offer advice I'd be grateful.
Thanks in advance

Could be a fault with the tap if it was working ok before.
What type of tap is it?
Are all valves fully open?

It could be either dirt/saw dust in the diffuser or a kink in a flexible tap connector.
I have seen both cause poor water flow

Turk, do you know the difference between pressure and flow?

Have you asked whoever fitted the new boiler about the taps?

Prior to the boiler going in, one of the engineers that came to quote suggested that there may be an issue with pressure which might affect the boiler function. I asked the water board to come and check it out and we were happy that there was more than enough pressure and the flow rate was ok. The pipes I'm told are small diameter and affect the flow rate to the kitchen taps and there was an issue with the taps in the bathroom sink where the flow seemed to just fade away, but that seemed to sort itself out. The hot tap in the bath functioned normally up til the other day when the wife complained about it. When I had a butchers it was as ive described. We had the mixer tap replaced in the kitchen sink last week and the chap said the flow was quite poor to the cold tap, this has been the case for a while and I guess we've got used to it, don't know if this has anything to do with what's happening in the bathroom. Valves have been mentioned on this post and the ones I've found are all fully open.

I've often come across this problem when a gravity hot water system as been converted to a combi boiler and a lot of 22mm/3/4 pipework from the old gravity system as been connected up to (this gives a little bit of water storage in the old large pipework which soon tapers off) more noticeable if you still have the old style 3/4 bath taps.
Although this doesn't explain all the faults you have described it maybe is just one contributing factor of a number of things that are wrong.

Poor flow rates on hot water are a feature of combi boilers.
