Hi

when using a washing machine in a flat we are in staying in as a favour, the outpipe (i think that is what is), seemed to separate. I have some images below.

Despite my attempts to put it back together, it isn't working. The person who's flat it is, is away at the moment, thinks it might be because the drain is blocked. I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on:

1. is it a blocked drain
2. if it is, how simple is it to fit together again

sorry of this is a daft question, but any help would be appreciated.

Hell
The red pipe is officially a washing machine hot water fill pipe.
The grey pipe is a machine drain hose.....can't for the life of me see where its supposed to plug in to though - often there is a junction at the sink drain outlet.
Second pic.....seems to be an open bigger diameter white drain pipe open, at the back?
Confused!
John :)

Hi
thanks for that. I assumed they stuck together but cant be sure as I have only been here a few days. I squeezed them together and tried to tighten. When I turned the washing machine back on (it was draining), the water came flooding out.

the white drain pipe seems to be historic. I am unsure what from though

it was coming out the red pipe. If it helps there is also a blue (I assume cold water pipe) lying around which I have assumed is now redundant?

If those pipes are meant to be joined, then its the craziest thing I've ever seen
The washing machine would drain through the grey hose - thats what its meant to do.....it looks like its never been connected up, actually - if it had been, there would be evidence of where it could be plugged into the white plastic drain system.
I would guess the machine is both hot and cold fill - but only the cold is being used, which is ok....hence the spare red pipe.

Ahh, it suddenly all makes sense! Thanks very much.

I have stuck it into the cut off white drain pipe (it joins with the sink drain pipe) and tried a quick spin cycle and all is working fine now.

So that has saved a call out, and all we need is someone to do the external drains which is not the flat owners responsibility, so all good.

Thanks again :D
