Exterior Facia & Soffits prep - advice?

Just wanted some confirmation on a good method for prepping and painting exterior soffits and facias.

Existing timber, painted in translucent white "stain" and opaque white gloss. Flaky and old in many areas. I am assuming the best method is to lightly sand the existing surface to key it , remove flakes etc?

I was recommended Sadolin Superdec to paint directly over the existing.

Any Advice?

Probably not a good idea at this time of year, but a good rub down and spot prime all raw areas. Full undercoat after that and possibly two coats of gloss on top.

I am helping my brother do this, and that is exactly what I said to him.....will have to convince him to hold on till summer as it is quite damp and the temps are struggling to get above 10 and I assume the moisture content of the wood will be higher
