EcoTEC Plus 831 - F.22 error

Hi guys. Had 'F.22 safety switch off' - water shortage' message flashing on my Vaillant this evening, and alternating with '0.4 bar'. Had plenty of water coming out the taps, but not heating up, and no central heating. I know nothing about boilers but fortunately was an easy fix after googling. I turned the two grey taps underneath clockwise, heard it filling up, managed to quickly get the pressure bar display screen up, and then turned the taps anti clockwise to stop filling. Boiler ignited and I have hot water and heating again. Phew, saved having to get an engineer out.

Now, by the time I turned the taps off again, it had got to 2.1 bars. Is that too much and if so, how do I reduce it?

And why would this happen anyway? The boiler is a year old, is it some fault, or normal for this to happen and nothing to worry about? It's being serviced in 3 weeks, plus I have years and years of Vaillant warranty, so not overly worried, but curious.

As you havent had to top it up in a year its not too bad, if you want to reduce the pressure bleed the rads until the pressure reads 1 bar with the boiler cold, it happened because you put too much water , you could wait for the service guy to sort it out if your unsure.
