Hi
This website has been a great resource over the last few weeks as I have been doing a total renovation of my new first house. But I have driven myself mad knowing what to do about insulation. I own a 9inch brick Victorian end terrace, with a really big exposed end wall. I have gone and forwards over different breathable/non breathable products but finally decided on the insulated plasterboard approach.
Reading on here I have learnt that you can’t dot and dab and will need to baton. I have managed to find a treated baton that is 19mm but it still leaves me with a tiny amount of space around the stairs to insulate. Does my board have to end before the stairs starts, or are there ways round it? The house is going to be freezing if I don’t insulate that whole wall.
Also what do you do around reveals? There are big wooden frames around windows but none of them have much depth, so any insulation would come out further than the windows. How would you install them? Unfortunately the couple of plasterers I have had in have told me not to bother and not insulate but this doesn’t seem like the right approach as every wall is back to brick and is a good opportunity to upgrade. Some pictures below.
Sorry for the long message, and I would really help and appreciate any help from some experienced brains!
Adam
