Hi All,

Slid across the laminate floor in my lounge in some trousers with a broken back zip :/ result isn't pretty!

I know this is never going to be perfect (as it is about 2 feet long!!) but please can someone advise what it the best thing to improve it?

Many thanks all,

slim

i personally would burnish it with a bit off wood with the grain assuming its a real oak layer on top

by burnish i mean a bit off say 2x1 par at a 22ish degree angle rubbed across the scratch back and forth with the grain
just make sure the wood is softer and clean to avoid scratching

yes it may cause very fine damage but should help reduce the main scratch
then a wax crayon to fill it in
it will always be visible but may reduce it enough

Do you have any spare planks?

I don't but I might be able to find the manufacturer and source some more. The scratch is in the middle of the floor and the boards will be tongue and groove though I think, so will I have to take everything up?

Thanks big-all. Have you got any links for a guide/read-me on this as I am not 100% sure on what i need to buy/do! Thanks.

ok lay a bit off say 2x1" timber on top off the damage area off flooring laying in the same direction lengthways and flat

raise the back edge a few inches and hold at this angle [about 20 degrees] you now only have the bottom corner [2"wide]in contact with the flooring

with light downward pressure move back and forth over the scratch following the grain in the wood

Liberon wax sticks, get the right shade and you'll lose that scratch...pinenot :)
