Hi gents,

Can you advise please am going to obviously install a bronze pump having the pump pumping in to the cylinder, however here is where I am confused!

Why doesn't it pump up the open vent!?

Alex

If you want trouble free secondary circulation on a vented cylinder put an essex flange high up on the side on the cylinder side and pump away from the cylinder, the return can go into a surrey flange, no chance of pumping over and an air free supply to the pump.

Hi

So if I had the pump on the outlet of the Essex flange pointing away from the cylinder, where are you suggesting it will return to the cylinder via the Top of the cylinder?! Surely that will pump up the open vent?!

Cheers mate

Thats why I wrote "the return can go into a surrey flange" , then it cant pump up the open vent.

probably a circulating pump, you need to fit balancing valves.

The pump needs to go in the return, so it pulls hot water around the system, and back into the cylinder, you will also need a lock shield valve on each leg of return, no need for essex flamges.

It doesn't pump up the vent because it it circulating water out of cylinder and back into cylinder

I quite like this idea, IMO this is the best choice.

Because I have been working on commercial premises for many years and that is the way its done

If you put it on the flow you are likely to pull air down the vent, If you draw off faster then the cold feed can cope with.
