Decorative Victorian fireplace repair

Hi All,

We bought the house 2 years ago and I would like to sort out the decorative (non-functional) fireplace in the bedroom.

The picture below shows that the hood is missing. I don't know whether it is a simple task of purchasing another hood or should I get a full replacement? The latter is more expensive...

The red highlights show where I believe the hood would have secured. The blue I believe are where the grate would have secured.

Does anyone have any thoughts as to whether this would be possible or should I just get a new fireplace?

If the fireplace is only decorative and never used then a suitable hood and grate are all that's needed (plus some method to securely fix the hood). Good luck finding ones that match in size and style! (especially the hood)

Thanks. I guess then the more expensive alternative, to replace the whole lot, would ensure that it all fits and matches. Oh well

Get on gumtree - we recently sold something very similar to that (repro Victorian) for about a hundred quid.
