It is not how well they work, but will the insurance company accept them? Clearly any cover will have a life expectancy, it says 18 months but that would depend on usage. If the risk assessment was to say it needs renewing every 10 years then maybe, but if it says every 18 months then no so good. Or would it just require an annual test? And how would you test? Or simply an inspection, but if so how often.

So what you have to consider is what will the insurance company say about using them?

And remember you will have a liability for having fitted it. Safety is more important than aesthetics

Dear God.

So this gets plonked on top of a normal switch

and it looks better than a flushed MK Masterseal?

The builder thinks that that is not horrific, but Masterseal are?

And he thinks that Masterseal are only available in grey?

You've got an idiot for a client - be afraid,

I might suggest to go down the wall mounted PIR route
Condensation on the lens might render it insensitive to movement. Warm damp air swirling around might falsely trigger it on. And two (wo)men sitting and gossiping for longer than the timer will be left in the dark until they start moving again.

It's only a 4 bed house and not a massive swimming pool Bernard with plenty of air con/ducting/ventilation to remove any problems in that respect, but yeah worth thinking about. We've installed air source heat pumps to provide the heating & ventilation.

We have a client who doesn't want an "ugly" IP rated switch fitted in a changing room for a swimming pool
How does a changing room differ from any other room? Why is an IP rated switch needed?

What about a proximity switch behind a tile? Nothing at all visible then.
