Water Main - Blue 22mm to Black 22mm

Hi,

I'm trying to connect 25mm blue mdpe to my mains water. The mains water pipe near the external stopcock is blue then connects into a black pipe which then comes into the house. I thought the pipe was 25mm so I bought a 25mm equal tee and cut the black pipe, turns out its something like 22mm (that's what I measures it at) so I'm confused.

Are there conversion kits to connect the 22mm pipe to my 25mm tee? Or am I missing something? Currently running on bottled water to wash

It will be 1/2" Alkathene Buy an adaptor

1/2" is 12.7mm but the pipe is 22mm - how can that be?

You'll probably have to reduce it before you tee off but I'd imagine what you're after is a 25x22mm reduction union.

You'll probably have to reduce it before you tee off but I'd imagine what you're after is a 25x22mm reduction union.

Philmac make a universal coupling. It depends what your local plumbers merchant keeps in stock.

The Alkathene is the same size as imperial copper so a 22mm x 25mm compression fitting with an imperial olive will do. Finding an insert wont be so easy for the Alkathene as there are different wall thicknesses.

Either a Philmac UTC as Terry has said, or a Philmac 25mm coupler with a ¾" adapter kit

But how many times have you used a fitting designed to go on PEX and copper, on MDPE/Alkathene?

I think I've posted the wrong link looking at that. I found a few different ones on Google shopping. That one wasn't the one I intended to post. The one I considered was around the 12 quid mark.

Thanks again guys - was up at 7 this morning to get to plumbase where they stock the imperial to metric connector jobbies. My next problem is the from the stopcock there is an elbow coming out with what I can only describe as a white funnel looking thing which goes into the black (is it alkathene?) pipe. Here Ive got a slight leak by slight I mean a drip every 30 seconds or so. Whats the best method to get over this please?
