Hi all,

Been browsing the forum trying to find the answer but still confused and thought I would sign up and get some advice!

I have an Electramate 2000 electric boiler, it has been serviced and had a new board and work done as I had heat going around my radiators when using the hot water (now solved)

The question is the pipe outside is dripping when I have my heating on, a small drip every sort of minute and the pressure on my boiler is between 2 and 3. I have posted a picture of the pipe. I am the top floor and the stain was there before but got worse when we tried fixing the previous issue which gushed lots out when sorting out the previous issue.

Hope you can help

Expansion vessel or filling loop needs looked at. That's the pressure relief valve (prv) letting out water and has been for a while judging by the staining. Chances are the valve may need to be replaced too.

If I remember correct the valve was replaced and the big stain was when we were fixing the previous heating issue and it overflowed badly then.

Don't think of it as 'overflow' it is not - this is a relief pipe and is only meant to discharge water in the instance that the system becomes over-pressurised due to heated water expanding; or if the valve that governs it is faulty!
You will have an expansion vessel inside that has an air component which absorbs this expansion and keeps the relief pipe from discharging and losing water.
A constant drip is still a fault and the expansion vessel needs to be checked for air pressure being maintained at the specified charge.

Okay cool. Ill see about getting it checked out then. It does seem to be fine when the heating is off though, but I guess that is normal?

Heating vessel is usually red. Pottable water is usually white. It could be inside the boiler.
