My waney panel fences have arrived. They're in the garden getting soaked at the moment. I plan to install them with the help of swmbo, taking each one down and replacing it with a new one, one by one.

The panels are pressure treated. Is it worth adding any sort of DIY type fence treatment?
If so, it'd probably be easier to do so prior to fitting rather than afterwards.

I like mine dark brown, so I give a couple of coats of fence stain before assembly. It contains waxes which leave a water-repellent film on the surface. If you throw a bucket of water at a recently-treated panel, the water beads up and rolls off without wetting the timber.

Thanks. Ours came in a "bronze" colour as opposed to green. Would be nice to keep the colour bright.

there are some "natural" or pine-like colours, but I've only used the dark browns and greens. You can also get red and blue, if you like that sort of thing. The colour usually gets deeper with additional coats.

Any brands you'd recommend? I see cuprinol and ronseal as being most popular.
