Any one help ?

For an oil fired boiler?

Oftec engineer for oil boilers is it not.

I was ideally looking for someone to point me in the right direction to repair it myself.

Have you checked for oil or a spark?
Does the motor run.

A few clues would be good !!

When I press the reset button the boiler runs but then the lock out light comes on and a few minutes later the boiler switches off again.
If I switch off water and heating at the timer the lockout light goes off and as soon as I switch either on again the lockout light comes on again.
Unfortunately I don't know how to test for fuel and spark on the boiler. Tank is just under half full.

To be honest I am not sure what it's doing, I hear the boiler start to run but I can't hear the whoosh that usually followed ( if that makes sense, whoosh being the boiler lighting I guess?).

Remove burner, unplug coil and observe electrodes for sparking.
Is there any oil at oil pump test plug....Has fire valve tripped?

Hi

Thanks for replies, it looks like there is more to this than meets the eye, the boiler has a valve on the top which has a black plastic valve cap ( like on a car) and it has water coming out of it, not the expansion bottle opposite that, looking at pictures it's the automatic air vent
Unsure where the fire valve is.
Think I'm in over my head with this one..
