Lights in a single floor house keep tripping out.

My lights keep tripping out, they stay on for ages sometimes, all lights working fine then it'll trip out again. Sometimes I can't reset it, it trips straight away. I've opened all the switches and fittings and can not see anything wrong. Its not done this before. Changed the trip switch. How can test my earth is working ok.?

Firstly,

what device is tripping?
Is it a circuit breaker or an RCD? RCDs have a test button.

Its the breaker. But the test button on the RCD not doing anything

what is printed (all the letters and numbers) on the thing that trips?

Please post a photo of your consumer unit showing all the switches and breakers, and the circuit labels.

How long has it been doing this?

What electrical work has been done in the house? Who by?

Have nails or screws been driven into the floor or walls?

Are there water leaks?

Its the breaker. But the test button on the RCD not doing anything
