Armeg box sinker Jig

Hi Guys,

Not specifically an electrical question but.....

Does anyone have the armeg double box sinker kit and would be able to confirm the distance in mm between the two outer holes centres on the jig which is used to mark out the guide holes for the circular cutter? See below image

I recently picked up a kit off ebay but the jig is missing and I’ve not been able to find anywhere that sells the jig as a separate item.

If i can get the hole centre dimensions I can easily knock something up from a bit of scrap metal to do the job

I've only got the single cutter, so I just make a judgement call for a double box, but I think if you use a back box, and drill the holes for the screws, then you'll find the positions you need.

nice one mate ive got some 2mm ally plate so im just about to head out back and knock up a home made version that i can use right away.

Go easy on the square cutters, i snapped the guide pin on each of them whilst wiggling the box around too much! Ruined day!

I've used one on a DIY renovation, and I completely disagree, compared to cutting out the boxes "the old fashioned way' it was a breeze. I could genuinely create a single box cutout in about 4 minutes including tool changes.

Depends on the material I guess, although having bought one a number of years ago that has never been my experience. And I know that many others share my view.
 
I chopped out, capped and boxed a twin socket in 5 minutes last week - I timed myself because the guy I was working with was taking SO LONG. That was the old fashioned modern way, with an SDS and chisel bit. That was in medium density breeze block
 
The Armeg products are apparently only designed for use in soft clinker blocks / breeze block type things.
They go blunt very quickly in brick or concrete.

Had one of their very expensive chasing chisels once, blunted after only a few feet of chasing.
Then the end sheared completely off, leaving the SDS mounting part stuck in the drill.

Had that happen to me last week with a standard 16mm bit, had to strip the entire chuck down so I was left with just the tool holder. Then had to get a threaded tap and hit it where the ball bearings sit. Total nightmare. Still haven't managed to face putting it all back together
