Should have taken a couple of pics yesterday - will do today.
Dug a hole in front of iron soil stack to investigate getting a connection to a ground floor wc.
Apart from discovering a flexi pan connector below ground going from iron to clay
, we also uncovered an odd section of clay pipe about 4’ long. It’s torpedo shaped and flares from about 7” to 9” in the middle and then back down to 7” where it connects into a female socket of the next section of clay downstream (due to access we haven’t exposed any more of that section).
We need to get an IC in right where the torpedo bit is and still make a good connection onto the outflow part of this pipe, which obviously has a diminishing diameter!
Any ideas on what this odd section is, why it was used and how we can get onto it? Everything upstream can be replaced with new 4/5” underground.

I think I’ve told the story here before... a mate of mine once told a stroppy customer that his toilet kept blocking because the pipe was 4” and the customer had a 6” ar$€hole
