Hi all, my first time here,

im doing a single storey kitchen/diner exstention @ home, things are going ok, but i need to find out how i can find out what gegree of pitch i need to go on the roof, nothing is shown on the drawings, except the fact that the upper bedroom window is lower than the bathroom window & looks like i might have to change the window in the bedroom,
which i want to avoid. im using "s clay tiles" to match existing property,
so you see im hoping to reduce the pitch to avoid changing the window.

be most appreciated for your advice thanx Gaz

the pitch of the roof will be dictated by the first floor window sill.

you will finish the pitching plate approximately 9 inches down from the underside of the sill.
this allows 3 inches for lathe and tiles and 6inches for a lead flashing upstand.

b.c have allowed less than 6 inch lead upstand, so don't worry too much about being the full 9 inches below window sill. though i would advise 4 inches minimum of lead upstand.

once you have this information (roof pitch), you can then see which tiles are available to suit the pitch.

anything less than 15.5 degrees requires specialist roofing, i.e plywood, bonded felt, counter battens etc.

plain clay tiles are only suitable for roof pitches 35 deg or steeper.
