Neon 2 way switch

My leanings is for a normal two way switching. Have a single gridswitch plate that has only one neon. That is, next to the switch in the hallway (well inside a hall cupboard). A 'double' box or patress can be used. Or a single box gridswitch with the neon and switch in one (two cut outs in the facia plate, 2 gang).

Like this. Switch in one, neon in the other:

You really have chosen a very apt user name.

How deep is the loft floor? What is the distance between the underside of the landing ceiling and the top surface of the loft floor?

Indeed.

And the point is that unless your loft floor is less than 85mm deep you could have a switch mounted in the hatchway into the loft which you could easily operate on your way up or down the ladder.

I now have a solution. A two gang gridswitch with switch and neon. Simple and will work.

Indeed - with switches and wiring in place and a neutral available at the switch that is a simple solution.

The reason I kept asking about the depth of the floor was this exchange:

The idea is to have the light on before you climb into the loft/attic. The neon is to ensure the loft light is not on 24/7
But what also works is a switch in the loft which you can see and reach from the ladder before you actually set foot in the loft.
The area is open and flat.

The hole into the loft has sides. Those sides have to be deep enough to accommodate a switch. Such a switch is accessible before entering and after leaving the loft.

Here's one I prepared earlier. Below the pull switch there is a 3 gang switch which included the loft light (believed to be builders original install as the whole street had it). Customer asked for this solution to accidently switching the light on although I don't know what happened afterwards with the over shortened string and 2 knobs.
