Does anybody know a treatment to suppress patio weeds permanently (or at least for a few years)? I have a rear patio and front block paving which are a problem. I've noticed pedestrianised streets in towns, with similar surfaces, which don't seem to have a problem. Maybe that's partly due to plenty of foot traffic, but areas which don't get much are still OK. Is there something to brush into the cracks? I don't mind if it costs a fair bit if it does a good job.

no, but pathclear includes a persistent chemical which forms a film on the surface of the soil and prevents weed seeds coming through.

If you disturb the soil, e.g. by pulling up weeds or hoeing, you disturb this layer and the weeds will grow again.

It lasts less than a year IMO but can save a lot of work. Some people use it between the bushes in rose gardens and borders, as well as on paths. You mustn't get it on the leaves, or young bark, of anything you want to keep.

Thanks for that. I have some Pathclear, I'll give it a go.
