Fitted 6mm circuit today with 45a switch for 10kw range

Powers up via switch clock comes on. Spark for gas hob works but soon as i attempt anything else it trips rcd

Also just found if I turn cooker switch off and on it then trips rcd again

Been a very long day heads busting

I'm thinking it's the switch....or some bad termination of conducted a at the switch or somewhere on circuit

Has the cooker just been fitted?

The elements can and do absorb moisture if stored.

I don't quite understand this bit -

soon as i attempt anything else it trips rcd and Also just found if I turn cooker switch off and on it then trips rcd again

Someone's said about these elements storing moisture

It's a family friend who bought it on a fbook selling site....cheap!

What I meant was that the cooker powers on with the clock and the spark works no bother but soon as i attempt to switch the oven on or oven light even it trips rcd at fuse box.....I'm thinking it may not be element as fault causes trip even if I attempt to put oven light on

Also if you switch cooker switch on and off this also trips rcd

If the RCD trips when the DP isolation switch to the cooker is switched on , then it points more to the cooker ,especially if its not brand new ,is it ?

Can we take it that you have ruled out the utterly stupid mistake of putting the circuit N in the wrong bar?

Yes so I reset the rcd.....went back to kitchen turned iso switch on and off (without touching anything on oven) then it tripped rcd again

I had to leave job without finishing but going back Saturday I was going to bypass iso switch. See what the outcome was least I can rule out switching issues

I asked the owner If she had seen the oven working....and she hadn't which makes it more frustrating as I can't rule cooker issues out

Oven/cooker controls generally only switch the line, neutrals are always connected so things like faulty elements can cause RCD trips even if the cooker controls are off.

A quick insulation resistance test between N&E at the cooker will identify such things.
