Nest 3rd gen thermostat adjusting tempersture.

I’ve succesfully connected the nest heat link and set up the nest thermostat. I am able to turn the heating off and on without an issue. I have the room temperature in my living room set to 20c just for a trial. It’s currently at 17c and the app is saying it will take 45 mins to go up 3’c. Does that sound right?
I’m curious as what to do with the settings on the boiler? Do I leave heating set to “once on” on the existing DT60 programmer? And also what do I do with the Central heating temperature control knob? Do I set it to max, min or? I have a Worcester greenstar CDI.

You need to set the boiler's programmer to ON (which it looks like it's set to already for heating). Leave the knobs set as they are now.

Hi thanks for the reply. I’ve set the nest app to maximum temperature but it doesn’t seem to adjusting the boiler temperature to above 50. Is that because the knob is st to 3 so it won’t be able to go any higher?

Nest can't control the boiler temperature on a Worcester, as WB don't have the option to use the OpenTherm control protocol - it's just standard on/off switching and the boiler controls sort the boiler temperature

Aww I see what you mean. So all I can really do is turn the heating on/off With nest. So when the nest thermostat reaches my set temperature (let’s say 20’c) will the nest automatically turn the boiler off do you know?

Yes, that's it - it's just an Internet-connected switch which turns your heating off when the room is up to temperature. The kind of functionality you appear to have been expecting is only available with more advanced boilers that can understand OpenTherm. Yours can only do basic on and off.

Don't WB have their own propriety version of Opentherm that can adjust the boiler temperature on the fly called 'The Wave'? Maybe the OP should have bought that instead of the Nest.
