Ideal Logic 24+ Central Heating with no Thermostat

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone knows if there is a way to call for central heating/turn central heating on without a thermostat?

Reason is, I've had an electrician install a Nest for me but I'm pretty sure they've not done it correctly, as now the CH is not working - However I don't want to blame the electrician if it's just a coincidence. The CH was previously working about a month ago but had been off since then.

Hot water works, pressure is fine, only 'fault' is pump overrun which I've heard is normal for this boiler.

Any help would be very much appreciated!

If there is an existing programmer / timeswitch still wired in, or as part of the boiler, it should be set to be 'on' permanently. The Nest can then take full control of time and temperature functions.

If there isn't, you will need to get the installer back to ask him how he's wired it up to work.

what boiler do you have and as Stem asks did you have a previous thermostat ? with heating selected to on at the boiler, press the middle of the nest receiver and if the boiler comes on it is fitted correctly and you have a communication problem, if it doesnt come on you have an installation or another device not converted properly

turns out the flow and return were turned off so all working fine now!

Rather bizarre that the heating was working, an electrician arrives to fit a Nest, they isolate the plumbing, which wouldn't have been necessary and then leave it like that.

common with that boiler when someone tries to top up the pressure it is easy to mix up the valves and turn the isolation valve off instead
