Old Samsung recorder reducing aerial signal

The recorder didn't seem to affect previous tvs, util now. Just bought a linsar tv, which struggled to get a picture. I did have the aerial plugged into the recorder, with a drop lead from the recorder to the tv. I had to bypass the recorder, plugging the aerial directly into the tv.

Would a passive splitter solve the problem?


Also: whats the best treble and bass settings for sound? The sound isnt as good as previous tv.

If anything the recorder should boost the signal, they have a signal booster incorporated. If it isn't boosting the signal I would say you have a fault somewhere. Either in the recorder or the fly lead.

I have no idea what the best settings for treble and bass are for your hearing. You will have to use trial and error as everyone's hearing is different. Also the speakers that come with todays telly are pretty much junk even on expensive TVs. A surround sound system or an audio bar is what people use to compensate these days.

Forgot to say the previous tv signal wasn't effected when the recorder was switched off., when off I'm not sure how much signal degridation there would be

Sorted the sound, got bass n treble upto 100% and is good

Some machines deliberate switch off aerial pass through when on. You can probably disable it in the menus.
