Go and look up the definition of "prejudice".

I have to say it is beyond disappointing that you consider you hold yourself to the highest moral standards, yet are happy to post something unfounded and unwarranted.

If you want me to elaborate on the point I made, fine. Just dont make assumptions in order to acuse somebody of being racist.

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said: “Keeping Londoners safe is my number-one priority and I am determined to do everything in my power to support the Met Police and tackle the complex causes of crime. The government has forced the Met to make £850m of cuts, resulting in officer numbers dropping to a dangerous 15-year low of less than 30,000.

“Despite warm words from Ministers, they have repeatedly refused to reverse the huge cuts imposed on the Met and have instead shifted the burden of police funding on to the council tax payer, which we know hits the poorest hardest.

“The Government has clearly abdicated its responsibility to keep Londoners safe, leaving me to take the difficult decision to raise council tax and divert business rates for a second year in a row to invest in the police and our long-term public health approach.”

How does he put more police on the streets when the Tory government keeps cutting funds?

How many people here are moaning about Khan, or crime anywhere else, are specials? Everybody wants more police. The government is the one to blame.

It was neither.

You said you would love to blame Sadiq Khan - the indicates a desire to pre-judge him.

If you want me to elaborate on the point I made, fine. Just dont make assumptions in order to acuse somebody of being racist.
Plan B:

You, and Brigadier, go off and do some learning. Come back when you have learnt what "prejudiced" means and can show that you understand that it does not necessarily have anything to do with being a racist.

When you come back you can apologise for alleging that I was accusing you of being a racist.

Is crime the responsibility of the mayor, since he has no control over police budgets?

He has neither the authority nor the funding.

I cant say Im a fan of Khan, but you cant blame him for not solving rise of crime

So Sadiq Kan has no authority or influence over Met Police policy?
From the Met's website:

"The Mayor of London, as occupant of the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) is required by law to produce a plan that explains how the police, community safety partners and other criminal justice agencies will work together to reduce crime.
The Police and Crime Plan reflects the Mayor’s manifesto and priorities for making London a safer city for all Londoners.
The Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) is the strategic oversight body tasked with devising the Police and Crime Plan and ensuring that it's delivered over four years."

So Sadiq Khan has no control over police budgets?
From The Mayor's website:

"The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, will commit today to investing record amounts to support policing and to tackle crime. The Mayor will confirm this investment as his Budget is considered for approval by the London Assembly.
Keeping Londoners safe is the Mayor’s top priority. The Government has already forced the Met to make £850m of cuts and the force still has to make cuts of £263m by 2022-23.
The Mayor’s Budget today contains an additional £234m for policing and tackling crime. This includes:
• £95m announced earlier in the budget process, funded mostly from an 11 per cent increase to the Mayor’s council tax policing precept - the equivalent of 46p a week. This will be split between a number of crime-fighting measures, including new officers, specialist investigators to disrupt gang violence and the Mayor’s new Violence Reduction Unit.
• An extra £118.6 million from business rates to support police officer numbers in future years.
• An additional £20.4 million to support additional initiatives against serious violence, including tackling gangs and providing more youth workers at hospital Accident and Emergency units."

What does The Police and Crime Plan say about tackling knife crime?

Have you spotted any discrepancy between £1.116 billion worth of past and future cuts imposed by central govt and a less than £213M top-up over a number of years from London funding?

What does The Police and Crime Plan say about tackling knife crime?

I have no idea - if you're interested you can find out for yourself here
https://www.met.police.uk/police-fo...about-us/about-the-met/police-and-crime-plan/

Have you spotted any discrepancy between £1.116 billion worth of past and future cuts imposed by central govt and a less than £213M top-up over a number of years from London funding?

Yes - it's not really that hard to spot.

The point was simple, multiple posts which stated that the Mayor of London had no influence over either policy or budget - he does.

On the subject of spending.

In his first year in office:

A 16% increase in numbers of permanent staff.
The proportion of staff earning in excess of £100k increased by 25%
173 temporary staff at a cost of £2.1m
Total additional spending on staff - a shade over £9m

Amazing how politicians can find the money to increase the size of their own office/position even when funding is tight?

£9m = 147 beat officers

The only way to sort it is to increase taxes, which will not please anyone. Not just income tax, but higher taxes on polystyrene , plastic containers, calor gas, multi national companies, especially tec companies, higher tax on online purchases, also, any packaging imported into this country which can't be re cycled would be shipped back to its country of origin, £1000 road tax on ALL Audi's, no, make it £2000, and not just Audi's, but any German car.

Of course - because whenever tax revenue is increased politicians always spend it wisely and for the benefit of the population as a whole.

Total revenue in local and national taxes 2018_2019 = £792 billion
Total forecast revenue 2019_2020 = £811 billion

hatejob is not aware that a government decides what to tax heavily, and what to tax lightly.

his guesses are silly.

You said you would love to blame Sadiq Khan - the indicates a desire to pre-judge him

It does not indicate a desire to pre-judge him, it just means my informed judgement of Khan wasnt included in the post.

However your post does show a desire to pre judge.

Come back when you have learnt what "prejudiced" means
Thats an example of BAS calling someone stupid.

It really is awfully tedious.

When you come back you can apologise for alleging that I was accusing you of being a racist.
I apologise

Conditionally.

Why: racism is the obvious inference, this forum is read by many people so others may inadvertantly form a negative opinion of me.
