Problem fitting new 25mm shower tray - water isn't falling!

Hi all,

I just fitting a new shower tray with my dad on the weekend but discovered an issue straight after we fitted it.

We followed manufacturers instructions to the T.

Bedded the tray down with 5:1 sand and cement on Plywood subfloor and levelled the tray perfectly.

The instructions then state to pour water to ensure it flows into the drain. To my horror on one of the corners (typically the walk in section) the water flowed out of the tray away from the drain!

Has anyone experienced this before? My dad has suggested we fit it again but with a slight angle towards the drain.

The instructions also talk about testing for level before fitting.. we did this and found it was perfectly fine.

Definitely wasn't. My dad believes it's because the tray doesn't have much fall to it. See from the picture below from the website the tray is not very deep.

Circled bit is where we will walk into the shower which is where is was flowing backwards.

Do you think there could be any issue with bedding it at an angle slightly towards the drain?

Even a slight fall would prevent water running uphill.

Good point... although it's my go to level i've used for everything so it better be bloody fine

Try the level both ways, swapped end for end. It should show the same bubble alignment both ways. The other thing is how accurate the levels are designed to be. An engineers level is a whole lot more accurate than a builders level.
