cutting ikea pax wardrobe

hello we have an ikea pax wardrobe which is too tall for thec
ceiling.
I am thinking it may be worth trying to cut a couple of inches off the doors and carcass.
Is a circular saw the best tool for the job?

I used a circular saw on an IKEA laminate wardrobe that needed a reduction in width, rather than height. A straight edge clamped to the panel will help achieve the desired line of cut.

You will need to reduce the door(s) as well.

You will also have to reduce the back panel which will need more care as it is thinner material, whichever tool you use.

Hi what do you mean for straight edge?
Is it just a piece of wood clamped to the panel or is it a specific tool?

Not much plinth on a Pax, Foxhole:

I reckon I could cut one down using a circular saw, fine tooth blade and the rip fence (up to about 60mm off) providing it was the flush door, non-sliding door type. I'd make the cuts off the top andn refinish with some iron-on melamine edging tape. For a beginner clamping a straight edge (two G- or F-cramps and something like a length of straight skirting, a 4ft spirit level, etc) might be easier to use than the rip fence of the saw

hi ours has sliding doors. would you tackle this differently?
obviously the doors would need cutting too.

Looks to be more than enough plinth on that .With sliding doors you don’t need any plinth .

It can be either, I usually use a piece of 15mm mdf sawn from a larger board, either by one of the sheds or using a straight edge I already made.

Trend and others do a clamp on type guide rail/straight edge

If you are able to reduce the sliding door height you will need to work out a way of re attaching the bottom sliding gear. But it might not look right.
