It made a very loud metallic squeaking this morning while it was spinning and then stopped spinning. I opened it up from the top and had a look at the belt and it looks fine. I looked at some videos online and have understood that it could be the capacitor but have no clue how to test this. I also understand the brushes on the motor may need replacing but again have no way to test this. Just wondering what people think I should do next. I was thinking that if there is no real way to test which one is the issue then I should just change the capacitor because it seems pretty easy.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Check the motor brushes first, they should be at least 10mm long & free to slide in & out of their holders under spring pressure

Ok will do. Just curious. Would this explain the loud squeaking?

Looks like less than 10mm

How can I testing the sliding aspect? Do I have the remove the motor or can I just unscrew the brush

The brush is touching the the bit in the motor so I assume that it’s fine.

Might be worth changing the capacitor ? Or does the loud squeaking sound that we heard before it died mean that maybe something got stuck somewhere? I did check the filter and nothing is in the but maybe something is stuck further up the pipe?

Any help is appreciated. Need this sorted ASAP.

Cheers guys

anyone got any ideas? based on my research it could be the water pump or capacitor...

I've been presuming the inner drum is free to turn by hand, if that is so there is not much more anyone can do by remote diagnostics. You cannot test a capacitor without the proper equipment but you said it stopped in mid spin so if it failed it is unlikely to be the capacitor but I don't see how the pump can cause your symptoms either. I think you need to call someone out to it rather than throwing parts at it.

The capacitor is a start capacitor. If it has gone the motor will not start up so no wash or spin. Having said that I have never known a start capacitor to blow. But it is an electronic device so it isn't infallible. It is the next cheapest thing to change as long as it accessable other wise it's the motor or the electronics.

It's a brush motor, it's a suppressor, it's not a start capacitor. Please don't confuse the OP.

Ok I’m confused. I was referring to the thing I took a pic of in the first post. The cylinder that says aerodev on it.

Is that what I should try changing?

The capacitor in my Saniflo had blown, preventing it from starting. Quite common apparently.
