Can't seem to find any multi-finish anywhere locally, I'm guessing it's a result of COVID-19.

I don't know how/where plaster is actually made. Anyone got any insight before how long before things might be back in stock? Thanks

Ok, found the answer. Yes. Should get better in a week or two.

I think most british plaster is made at Gotham Notts/Leices by British Gypsum. Mr Pullen the Director seems an excellent managing director but does he know about the extortion going on in this country on Ebay but on other sites such as Gumtree. There is a Law that is being contravened and the Police should be more onto that despicable practice that is going on rather than pouring water on a barbeque on a beach.
Profiteering is not a strong enough word for these sellers who have got plasterers over a barrel and some must be desperate to buy these unscrupulous seller's prices which are absolutely out of this world for plaster.
If these characters had been doing what they are doing now when the war was on they would have been hanged. Exploitation is the word I was looking for.

Its made at a different unit to Gotham Notts?Leicest) I was told plaster unit was not in operation till late May but the boards were being produced early May.
I got two bags yesterday but had to buy board finish....... I was told the 3 or 4 pallets of multi finish had gone in one and a half hours!. Plaster products are still scarce but it will improve but not yet. Several merchants had an order by myself but none recognised that order. If I had still been in business They would heard from me........ These days if you do not have a big turnover at any merchants you can get stuffed. In other words honour has gone (same as all the plaster)!
What is puzzelling is that these days of an efficient internet most know less. Communication problems should not exist but they do in a big way.......
Look at the stupidity of the Mask situation regarding several governments lack of intelligence. South Koreans all wear masks and the death toll is low...... It makes one wonder does any one of scientific importance look at the internet?

Wickes had a massive delivery today all over so its coming back into stock. Local one to me had 4 pallets this morning and limited to 5 per customer. Hopefully give it another week and the shortage will be gone?

I got 3 plasterers coming to do my stairwell in the morning - I really hope they bring some plaster too :)

Do pro plasters buy their stuff from places like wicks?
Or is that just for the DIY crowd?

I’ve seen a lot of plaster about in various diy sheds, so think it’s not a huge issue anymore.

@mattylad i remember reading on here that plasterers sometime prefer the likes of Wickes and B&Q for buying plaster as it’s all stored inside in the warm/dry environment which is better than some merchants, and the high turnover of sales means the bags always are relatively fresh too.

don’t know how true this is, but the logic seems sound.

Exactly, and the prices are far better too!!

B&Q have pallets of the stuff in.
5 bag limit for DIYrs and 10 bag limit for those with a trade account.

Only problem is ya gotta go into Blackburn to get it :)
