Hi All,

I’ve been having some work done in the garden and as part of that I’ve had the garden wall rendered, the company I’m using have subcontracted the work out and I’m not very happy with the finish.

I’m hoping someone will be able to guide as to what’s gone wrong and give me the knowledge to have a proactive conversion about getting it sorted.

The finishing is poor but they’ve also used plastic beading which looks really cheap. Would their have been another option?

The render was added to a breeze block wall.

Plastic beading is correct for the polymer he has used.
The finishing is garbage, go back to the main contractor as it will need stripped and redone.

That's the wrong beads he has used, looks like stop beads, should be corner.

I didn't know you could apply render with a teaspoon.

Really appreciate the response, I thought it was just me. I’ll speak to the contractor about corner beading and hopefully he’ll agree that it should have been put on.

Aside from the poor finishing, would you say the render looks like a reasonable result? So 90% okay, 10% poor finishing? I’ve attached another photo which might help.

The finishing is all over the place, round the lights, at the beads looks terrible.
The slab on the steps too short as well.
I wouldnt pay for any of that work.

Its 100% not ok as it cannot be patched so will all need to come off.

Okay, thanks. I didn’t know whether they’d be able to patch it or not. I was aware of the lights, but they did say they’d be able to sort that.

Looks like a difficult conversation tomorrow.

looks like the slabbing and blockwork was already there?
have you paid for the ‘plastering’?
